Hotel in Taormina - Sicily: a small charming b&b in central position

My friend and I cannot speak highly enough about the Pensione and the super-helpful and friendly staff therein (especially Matteo, Luigi, and the lady with long dark hair). We stayed in a fantastic ocean-view room on the 4th floor with breathtaking views from the balcony for a week and cannot imagine a more fabulous hotel; especially for the price! We loved the breakfasts (don't miss the homemade ricotta and yummy cappuccini), the rooms are immaculately cleaned each day, and the staff assisted us with all of our taxi arrangements (with Mr. Carmelo; very safe driver) even at very early hours and to distant locations. The tea hour was a nice treat each day and offered a social hour (or not, as you prefer) as well as some Sicilian snacks (panettone for us during the first week of January). You will love this beautiful place...and if you can handle some stairs, I highly recommend the ocean-view rooms on the 4th floor (20-22, I think). Buon viaggio!

My fiancee and I were already aware of the charms of this hotel. Our recent stay confirmed what we had heard and read about. Giusy Maria and Matteo made us feel welcome. In short, we had a home away from home. It's a pity that some of the public transport workers in Taormina are not as efficient as the team who runs this hotel. Thanks to their inefficiency we missed a much anticipated trip to Acireale. But never mind. 'Sara' per la prossima volta'.
The wonderful staff at the Pensione and the service were enough to make up for this mishap.

That is, in my view the best way to describe this lovely hotel in Taormina Italy.Walk down a flight of stairs to enter and saunter up to the one person reception. They hand you a key on an old key ring and then it is pack your bags up the stairs to the room. Just to make a few jealous, this is being written on the large patio of Room No. 7, overlooking the Mediterranean on a sunny and warm early January day. The old wooden doors, the wooden floors and the very tasteful decorations, all add to the charm, along with the floor creaks, the doors closing, the view, the people you meet, the bow tied service for breakfast, and, and.......
A great place to rest, relax and enjoy the town on the Mediterranean.

After some experience in travelling, I have decided that staying at family run hotels (in Italy) is definitely the best decision. My choice was once again rewarded with La Pensione Svizzera. It is well located only a few minutes from the central area of Taormina. The rooms are large and very comfortable. The hotel also has an interior lounge area, perfect for relaxing for afternoon tea which is provided for guests every afternoon. In the hotter months, the beautiful and leafy outdoor terrace is a wonderful location with views across the coastline. Breakfast was also good and with parking located only a couple of minutes away, this hotel covers for everything.
